T1D Warrior Athletes Program Terms
Version: program-terms-2026-11-01-v2
Effective: November 1, 2026
T1D Warriors is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 88-1617933) based in Burlington, Kentucky. These terms explain membership, participation, support and content permissions in the T1D Warrior Athletes program.
An adult athlete accepts these terms through the application. For an athlete under 18, a parent or legal guardian provides the required approval and permissions through the parent approval process. Accepting these terms or submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
No 1 Fights Alone.
1. What the program is
T1D Warrior Athletes brings together athletes living with type 1 diabetes and athletes who support someone affected by it. Athletes use the sports they enjoy to represent the community, raise awareness and help others feel less alone.
Membership is free. Athletes of every sport and level are welcome to apply. There are no performance standards, follower-count requirements or membership dues.
2. Eligibility, applications and parents
- Athletes must live in the United States and provide accurate application information, including their date of birth.
- A parent or legal guardian must start and manage the application for an athlete under 13.
- Athletes ages 13 through 17 may start their own application, but participation requires approval from a parent or legal guardian through the app.
- The approving adult confirms that they are the athlete's parent or legal guardian and have authority to give the requested participation and content permissions. A teen using their own account cannot approve their own parent request.
- T1D Warriors reviews applications and may accept, waitlist or decline them. Parent approval allows an application to move forward; it does not guarantee acceptance.
- When an athlete turns 18, the app's adult-account handoff explains account control and any agreements requiring the athlete's own acceptance. Earlier consent records remain unchanged. A birthday alone does not create a new permission or give a parent continuing account authority.
3. Participation and recognition
- There are no minimum activity levels, required events, mandatory posts or fundraising targets.
- Uploading content, posting on social media and fundraising are optional. The content-reuse permission in section 6 is required for new membership under these terms, even though sharing content is optional.
- Low activity alone is not grounds for suspension or termination of membership.
- Recognition designations acknowledge involvement or separately agreed opportunities to represent T1D Warriors. They do not create an automatic entitlement to gear, money, sponsorship or other support.
- Additional responsibilities for a particular role or opportunity must be explained and agreed separately. They do not create participation requirements for every member.
4. Health, safety and events
Your health comes first. Follow the advice of your own doctor and care team when choosing sports, training and participation.
T1D Warriors does not provide medical advice, medical monitoring or individual diabetes-management services through this program. Membership does not provide a coach, chaperone, emergency responder or medical supervision.
Sports and events involve risks. Athletes and parents are responsible for choosing suitable activities, making appropriate care and supervision arrangements, and following the rules and safety instructions of each activity or event.
Joining a Warrior Team at a third-party event does not make T1D Warriors the event operator. If T1D Warriors organizes an activity, it will explain its role and any separate participation or safety requirements for that activity. These terms do not replace an event organizer's registration conditions or any separately accepted event agreement.
5. Code of conduct and representation
- Treat athletes, families, staff, partners and supporters with respect.
- Do not harass, bully, discriminate against or threaten others, online or in person.
- Keep other people's private information confidential.
- Be truthful in applications, activity records, support requests, fundraising and product endorsements. Correct material errors when you discover them.
- Represent T1D Warriors responsibly when using its name, branding or gear.
- You may identify yourself as a program member. Membership or a recognition designation does not authorize you to sign contracts, promise support or speak as an authorized spokesperson for T1D Warriors without separate authorization.
6. Content and permission to reuse it
Content covered by this permission
"Shared Content" means all content provided to T1D Warriors through the app or the program, including photos, videos, stories, posts, bio material and application story answers.
Shared Content does not include contact details, date of birth, home or mailing address, account information, support requests or private messages with staff.
Adding a social media handle does not authorize access to or posting on your own social account. It also does not grant permission to reuse every unrelated post on that account.
Permission granted
You retain ownership of content you own. You give T1D Warriors nonexclusive permission, without payment to you, to reproduce, display, publish and share Shared Content in its own program communications, marketing and fundraising materials, including its website, email, social media and printed materials.
This permission includes the athlete's first or preferred name, image, voice, sports and experiences included in Shared Content. Shared Content may reveal a connection to T1D or other personal experiences described in it.
T1D Warriors may resize, crop, format, caption or excerpt Shared Content for these uses without materially changing its meaning or falsely implying an endorsement. It may use service providers working on its behalf for these purposes. This permission does not automatically authorize a partner's separate advertising campaign.
Permission is required to join under these terms. It applies to Shared Content submitted now and later, has no automatic expiration date, and does not require approval for each individual use. Online publication may make Shared Content accessible worldwide.
Your email, phone number, date of birth, home or mailing address, and private account details are not authorized for public disclosure by this permission.
Your authority to share
Only submit content you own or have permission to license for the uses described here. Being pictured in a photograph or being allowed to download it does not necessarily give you the photographer's reuse rights.
Obtain appropriate permission from other identifiable people included in Shared Content, including appropriate parent or guardian permission for children. Do not upload other people's private information.
Removing content and requesting changes
You or authorized staff can remove an upload from the portal. Removing an upload or leaving the program does not automatically remove copies already published or end the permission for Shared Content previously provided.
Contact team@t1dw.org to request removal from channels T1D Warriors controls or to discuss limits on future use. T1D Warriors will review the request and explain what it can do. It cannot guarantee retrieval of distributed printed materials or removal of copies independently shared by others.
Nothing in this section removes rights or remedies that applicable law does not allow you to waive.
7. Gear, support, partner offers and fundraising
Support and offers
- Gear, competition-fee assistance and other support are requested and reviewed separately. Availability depends on approval, budget, stock and applicable offer terms.
- Membership, recognition, participation or fundraising does not guarantee support.
- Obtain written approval before incurring an expense for which you expect reimbursement. T1D Warriors pays or provides only the support described in the approved offer and any separately accepted support agreement.
- Partner products and discounts are available only when an actual offer exists and may have separate eligibility, availability and use conditions.
- Athletes and parents are responsible for checking applicable school, team, league or governing-body requirements before accepting support or making endorsements.
- If you choose to endorse a partner's product, disclose relevant sponsorship, free-product, discount or other material relationships clearly and follow applicable advertising rules. Do not make unsupported product or health claims.
Fundraising
Fundraising is optional. Donations through an approved T1D Warriors fundraising page go to T1D Warriors for the purpose stated on the applicable campaign. A campaign designated for scholarships remains subject to that stated purpose; these terms do not broaden it to unrestricted use.
Amounts shown on an athlete's page are not the athlete's personal balance and do not create a right to race fees, reimbursement, gear or payment. Support requests remain separate from fundraising.
8. Leaving, pausing or ending membership
You can leave the program by emailing team@t1dw.org.
T1D Warriors may pause or end membership for serious or repeated violations of the code of conduct, materially false information or conduct that puts others at risk. It will explain the reason. Low activity, choosing not to post, or choosing not to fundraise is not by itself grounds for ending membership.
Leaving the program and requesting account or personal-data deletion are separate requests. Contact the same address for either. Leaving does not automatically cancel an existing support agreement or the content permissions already given; those remain subject to their terms and applicable law.
9. Privacy and communications
Private application and account information is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Access is limited according to the app's permissions, including the athlete, appropriately authorized parents or guardians, staff and necessary service providers.
Private account information is different from a public athlete bio. Staff may select permitted bio details and media for the T1D Warriors website when the applicable content permission and program publishing conditions are satisfied. This does not make the underlying application, contact information or private account public.
Sign-in, parent approval, security and essential account communications are necessary to operate the account and program. Optional news can be turned off through email preferences. SMS is optional and requires its own separate consent; providing a phone number does not give SMS permission.
10. Agreement versions and existing members
The app identifies the version of the full terms and content permission being accepted and records the accepting person's identity and acceptance time. You can review the applicable text before agreeing and request a copy of your recorded agreement.
Unsubmitted drafts must accept the applicable current agreements before first submission. An older draft date or an older policy label alone does not qualify for grandfathering.
Applications genuinely submitted before the new requirements take effect, and existing members covered by earlier agreements, retain those earlier agreements unless they affirmatively accept a later version. Follow-up edits or resubmissions do not silently change those permissions. Historical consent is never backfilled or rewritten.
Grandfathering membership does not create media permission that was never given. Organizational reuse and website bio publication still require valid permission.
When new terms are proposed for an existing member, T1D Warriors will identify what is changing and whether a new agreement is requested. Updated text on a website alone does not expand an existing content permission or change the version already accepted.
